Critical Failures

• Failure to initiate or call for transport within 15 minutes
• Failure to provide adequate oxygen therapy
• Failure to verbalize or demonstrate BSI/PPE before patient contact
• Failure to assess and treat life-threatening conditions first
• Failure to manage the patient as a competent EMT
• Exhibits unsafe behavior
• Failure to perform all critical steps

How to Give a Handoff Report

1. State age, gender, chief complaint.
2. Summarize key assessment findings (vitals, exam, history).
3. List major treatments/interventions provided.
4. Report any changes or response to treatment.
5. Current status and recommendations.
6. Be concise, use a clear structure.
